  • LET'S GET IT DONE CAMPAIGN - This cassava farm project will cover 2 lots of farm land located in the Peace community, Buchanan. The cassava from the farm will be used to produce farina (gari), fufu, and cassava leaves. Farina (gari) is a major food in Liberia, it is 2nd to rice in terms of Liberian consumption. It is economical and is a very fast selling commodity in Liberia and is high demand.

About The Project

$2050.00 needed to purchase a farine (gari) processing machine - $1500.00 USD for 1 machine
$500.00 contributed by community owners of this cassava farm project

Timeline: Completion of the project 8 months- September 2023 through April 2024
Projected Yield: 200 kg of cassava, 55 kg of fufu, 50 kg of farina, 25 kg of dried cassava

Donating to this important project will allow this farm project to purchase a farine (gari) processing machine. This will allow the farm members to process the dried cassava into a finer grain for consumption, instead of manually processing the dried cassava. $500.00 contributed by the farm owners will allow them to hire 5 workers to brush the farm, weed the farm and provide security for the farm. 2 members of this cassava farm group donated the lots and the land is now the property of the cassava farm group. The owners will benefit from the income generated from the sales of the farm products. 40% of the projected total income will be equally distributed to the owners. 60% of the the remainder income will be put back in the farm. 


UPDATE: 1/17/24- community members just donated 3 additional lots for them to grow more cassava and expand their harvest and increase their yield and income


Paying it Forward

This cassava farm will impact their community by offering, selling cassava, farine, gari at lower prices. They will hire at least 5  community members (hire more as needed) to tend to the field and help take care of the farm.

Each participant/owner of this farm cassava project is a business owner. They are all business oriented and they feel deeply that it will succeed because of their commitment to the project. They believe they can properly manage this project and have taken great strides to effectively plan this project. They also believe that the additional capital that is gained from this project will help develop their own individual projects and improve the livelihoods of their families and some of the hired community members. Each member with another (groups of 2) has a responsibility to visit the project site on their scheduled day and then report back of the status of the farm to the entire group.
