About The Project

FULLY FUNDED

$4,500 needed to rent and renovate a building and buy a bread machine (Mostly funded 6-23)

$1,600 provided by the owners and donations by other community members

$2,000 investment from CPDC to purchase bread machine (Bread machine purchased 6-23)

With your investment the “Bread for all” commercial bakery will allow the participants to be able to start the first Liberian owned bakery in the City of Buchanan started by women:

  1. Renovate, rent existing building:  $2,500 Families have contributed most of this already
  2. Purchase Bread machine $2,000 commercially built for high production
The only other bread factory in the city is owned by a family from Ghana.  There are very few large businesses owned by Liberians in their own country.  This will set a new model, not just of being Liberian owned, but it was started and is led by 7 women all enrolled in the CII peer-driven change initiative.

"This bakery is unifying community members that are going to positively impact their community and the most important aspect of this community project is the growth of their community as a whole. This project is led by brilliant women who have emerged as leaders in their community. This I believe is just the beginning. Their goal is touching many issues in the global society (unbeknownst  to them) advancing gender equality, increasing participation of the youth impacting their livelihood, increase training/increase skills for those in the community and the overall growth of their community. It is filled with dreams and hopes that will be fulfilled with your support."

Chris Yarwoe, our manager for CII Liberia says, "So, there is love, trust, unity and confidence growing amongst them by helping each other".

Paying it Forward

These amazing women are everyday changemakers. committed to the community and training youth.  They  are emerging as leaders of their Community. They are collaborating to create an ecosystem, an environment to encourage mutuality where people work together to improve the lives of others.  They are willing to encourage and advice other even in other countries to take charge and lead their own change.

Backstory

The entire Buchanan City is dependent on a single bread machine owned by a Ghanaian. This community-led project CII from Group #1 was contrived by local women in Buchanan. What they noticed when the bread machine was broken was their community was “hungry” for bread. They would have to do without or at times driving to Monrovia 2 hrs away to purchase bread until the bread machine was fixed. This creates such an unnecessary burden and inconvenience. Many citizens is use to (enjoyed) eating bread for breakfast and feels it contributes to a more balanced diet.
