About The Project

FULLY FUNDED

$250 is the total investment that Irene seeks at this time

$100 is the amount she and her family are contributing

Irene is asking for an investment so that she can complete the construction of a shop for her already expanding business. Right now, Irene works to sell much needed rubber dishes to members of the community. In addition, Irene is a baker, and has been able to supplement her income by selling bread. The shop is already under construction, and once completed, will provide the space for Irene to expand her current business selling cookware and bread. In addition, Irene also plans to start a catering business. Her skills as a cook have already landed her one catering customer in a family that pays Irene $50/month to cook all of their meals.

In addition to the construction of a shop, Irene will also use the investment funds to hire four employees to aid in meeting the anticipated increase in demand.

Paying it Forward

This last year Irene did not earn enough money to share but she washed cloths for others for free to help them.  But as her business has started to grow with investment from CII she helped a widow with 3 children who had lost her husband.  As her business grows she is committed to helping others.

Backstory

LB0033:  Irene has been selling cooking bowls since 2008. In 2009, she bought a lot of land for $750 and used her savings to construct a three bedroom house with a kitchen, two bathrooms, and two porches. In the process of building this house, Irene formed lasting connections with craftsmen in the area; the same craftsmen that are being paid to construct Irene's shop. Irene is the primary income earner of a family of 11. Because of her hard work, her 7 children are able to focus on pursuing an education, a luxury Irene was never able to afford. As part of her ongoing effort to legitimize this business venture, Irene has connected herself with others in the community whom she is paying to aid in the construction of her shop. This project is truly a community venture, and it will provide Irene and her family lasting financial independence.
