• LB0005 - Tamba David has a successful block making business.  In spite of Covid and currency devaluation, with just a $100 investment he was able to grow his business income by 55 % and his profit by over 270%.  Investing in him will help him save for a truck that will significantly grow his business.  He has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and hopes to one day own the biggest block factory in Liberia, creating more jobs and helping the community.

About The Project

$875 is needed for growing the business as the Corona virus lock down is eased.
$225 is what my family has to invest

In March 2020 Tamba got a $100 investment from CII which he invested in materials and grew his revenues by 55% in less than 6 months.  The Cement Block Factory was created to provide cement blocks to local community members in Buchanan, Liberia. At the moment, the business is running on a few bags of cement and sand, and is delivered to only local neighborhoods to because it does not have a truck to do delivery.  The investment will expand the business and increase the production of cement brick and columns. The project will use investments to purchase additional cement, sand, steel rods, shovels, and pay for rent space. The business works with other local suppliers like James David & Son Cements Dealer, and expanding this business will help expand the profits of these other local businesses as a chain effect.

Paying it Forward

Paying it forward to 3 other families.  Tamba helped Mr. Peter who was stranded during the Covid lockdown.  His business can grow significantly and he can create more jobs.  He shares what he earns with several other families in Grand Bassa and Lofa counties.

Backstory

LB0005:  In 2016, Factory Owner Tamba David started his former business by selling roasted meat and boil atayea tea through a machine called the "push-push" wheelbarrow. Through this wheelbarrow business, Tamba generated a daily income of around $12.50, of which he saved around $7.50 for future growth opportunities for his business. However, Tamba soon developed health problems as the fire fumes from the fire coal pot that is carried in the push-push wheelbarrow began affecting his breathing and overall health. After enduring worsening health outcomes during four months of work, Tamba decided to buy a new motorbike to replace the wheelbarrow.  A year later, Tamba decided to begin a new business, selling cement blocks to local customers. He started this block molding business with $200 USD, which was used to buy 20 bags of cement. Tamba is the primary supporter of his family, extended relatives and will help other community members with his business profits.
