About The Project

I started this business in 2019 after living on the street for a long time. I finished secondary studies in 2010 at Nyabulogoya Secondary School but was unable to find a job. In my business, I have been selling food and drinks like rice, beans, Ugali, fish, beef, banana, bites, tea, vegetables, sweet potatoes, cassava, yams, juice, and other soft drinks. My cooking style is unique from others since I cook food using local spices, and local vegetables like nsasa, mulenda, msigino, sorghum, and millet ugali. Due to selling this kind of food, I have been getting more customers who like local foods especially the cholesterol-free foods I cook.

Through this business, I have been earning up to 10,000 Tanzanian Shillings per day. With the money I earn I have been saving 5000Tzs for my children's school fees. With the donated money from CII, I will
upgrade my cafeteria by buying modern cooking utensils, a gas cooker, refrigerator, tables, and chairs as well as packaging materials. My cafeteria has been a great help to me as it helps me get the money to save for my children's medical treatment, school fees, clothing, and other emergencies.

Paying it Forward

Supporting my project will enable it to produce employment for people surrounding the community and increase wages for my employees. Not only that but also I will be able to support other people who are in need of capital to start their businesses.

Backstory

I’m Loza Maiko. I am twenty-eight years old, a wife to one husband, who is Losambo, and the mother of two children who are; Melesiana and Edward. Melesiana is 4 years old and Edward is 1 year old now. Melesiana likes eating rice with beans and she is in kindergarten school. My husband is a shoe mender; he also works hard to make sure that our children get food, shelter, and clothes as well as treatments and fees for our daughter Melesiana's schooling. Financing for my project will help me produce more food to sell which will increase my daily income. By so doing I will produce employment for Tanzanians.

My project aims to produce high-quality food, and distribute and cook at social events. If this project is funded, it will be a help in my life, my family's life and my employee's life. The biggest challenge I am facing is the lack of modern cooking utensils that will make me withstand the competition in the restaurant market. If I get the money I asked for, then the good Samaritans will have saved me from this challenge and I will work hard so that I can help my colleagues with challenges like the one I am going through.
