About The Project

$740 needed to purchase to materials for his carpentry business
$120 contributed by James towards his project

With an initial investment James bought materials to make furniture. He also put money into his local SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization). With future investments he would like to buy more wood working equipment. He knows that buying materials in larger quantities will add to his profit margin. His plans to grow the business include selling doors and windows. A better income will provide his family the basic needs of food, shelter and education.

Paying it Forward

James carpentry business will provide his community good furniture and future jobs as his business grows.

Backstory

James lives with his wife, five children and his mother. Three children are in school. He is earning enough income to be out of debt and is proud of this. Some of the challenges he notes his family faces are the lack of schoolteachers, no electricity, lack of clean water and poor roads. He and his neighbors are always working improving the pathways around the neighborhood to help improve the community transport network. Coming from an agricultural background, he believes that farmers should get away from using commercial fertilizers and use manure as an organic fertilizer.
