My name is Dickson Nkwabi (32), I am a teacher by professional holding a Bachelor’s of Arts with Education majoring History and minoring Kiswahili Language, I’m also a CII Mwanza Project Manager. Not only that but also I'm the founder of a Community Organization called Nihurumie Child Group Organization which is registered in Mwanza city by Reg. No. MCC/CD/.CBO/113051. It is group of 4 teachers who volunteer in helping street children by reuniting them with their families, providing them with educational material and free education through tuitions and remedial studies. I'm married with two children. I became interested in Family Independence Initiative (FII) projects since 2018 through one of the leaders of the Give Directly organization that was doing its work in Kenya. When the Community Independence Initiative (CII) was established under the leadership of Mauricio Miller and Marie who were also the founders of FII we returned to CII to support Mauricio's efforts in implementing CII projects in Tanzania. Through this CII organization I have managed to organize my colleagues, upload their projects, collect their surveys and I have been a link between CII members and CII's high-level leadership. In this educational project I have successfully helped 500 children since 2017 to date with various needs such as; connecting street children with their families (200), providing them with classroom materials such as pens and notebooks (189), pads for girls (54), mathematical sets (34), carving desks (35) and providing counseling to peer groups. I have been doing all of this in collaboration with education stakeholders such as government schools that receive our children who have been saved from the streets, transportation that helps us return these street children free of cost to local governments. The challenges I am experiencing are the lack of tools and financial resources for the operation of this center.
