Backstory
LB0003: Hawa Sherrif is an ambitious community member living in Buchanan, Liberia who, upon deciding to scale her business, was able to get in contact with our research team at Princeton University. While leading a household of 8, this self-employed business owner has been able to run a local supply store all while putting 5 children through school. Thus far, Hawa has received some help through remittances from friends and family in the US, Ghana, and Guinea. However, as her kids grow older and school fees continue to mount, it has been nearly impossible to allocate any income towards scaling her business and generating real profit. By generating real profit from the materials store, Hawa hopes to finish construction on her family's home and put energy into her real passion as a seamstress - buying materials and even training other some neighbors. At a community level, Hawa is also passionate about improving the quality of health care provided in her region.
