Farming is a way of life for most of the families in this region. Most families have small gardens to raise vegetables for themselves as well as to sell small quantities of produce. The challenge farmers face is the lack of land ownership so they limited in the land they can put into production. Therefore, renting land is very common in these projects. Irish potatoes are a stable in most farmers fields, however many other vegetables and grains are grown. One of the biggest issues these farmers face is crop destruction from the wild animals living in the adjacent national park.
