Backstory
Kabeni lives with two wives and five children. The women are farmers and earn an income from providing “casual labor” working for other community families as they don’t have their own garden plots. His family, like many Batwa people, attempt to have multiple means to make a living. They wish to start their own farming business starting with leasing a small plot of land to grow vegetables and keep domestic animals for a source for organic fertilizer. Challenges for Kabeni and his family are: living in a permanent home vs temporary structure; better sanitation system; getting safe drinking water; and finding medicine locally.
