Hope lives her husband, Phillip, and six children. Three of their children attend school and the others contribute to the family income. One son provides local labor, another son works in a salon and a daughter works as a tailor. Phillip is in businessman currently involved in selling beer. As Hope’s farming income grows she has goals of building a new house while continuing to provide the tuition fees for her three children still in school. The family has struggled with diseases from malnutrition but a change in diet has help prevent these issues. Hope believes there are three main issues that need improvement for stability in the Kisoro district: more medical centers, more schools ( and the push for education) and a better road infrastructure. As a community she hopes her neighbors and friends will come together to discuss sustainable agriculture, the benefit of SACCO’s and encouraging education for all.
